Is it possible to change the selection style (i.g. colors) when NT gains and loses focus to achieve more native L&F on Windows.

You can modify the config attributes registered in the ConfigRegistry at runtime. So you could register a FocusListener that changes the selection style on focus changes. Something similar is shown in the examples for a selection provider.
