Missing P2 Director tasks in Perform Setup Tasks... [message #1716690] |

Hello,
I want to redo my P2 Director Tasks to receive the newest plugins and to
ensure, that the configured environment still works for others which
install from scratch now (later than I did).
I remember, that there was once a P2 Director Task when I use "Perform
Setup Tasks...", but this entry isn't available anymore.
I have several P2 Director Tasks in an Oomph Project container. Most of
them are configured with trigger BOOTSTRAP STARTUP MANUAL. So I expect,
that at least those should be available to select in the Perform Setup
Tasks... dialog, isn't it?
What am I doing wrong?
How can I re-execute the P2 Director tasks from the setup?
Thank your in advance.
Best wishes,
Joachim

Yes, it's always good to test your setup changes.

Hmm. That task is pretty much always there for a manual perform. If you
select "Show all triggered tasks" is there a p2 task among the disabled
tasks (those that don't need to perform)?

Yes. Is that project connected to your workspace? I.e., if you "Open
Workspace" the workspace setup, and look at the Streams property, is it
listed there?

Probably. :-P

Yes, what you described is the way to do that. Perhaps you've opened a
different workspace and your setup isn't present there?

Nope, there is no P2 Director Task even in "Show all triggered tasks" list.

Yes, it is. I already checked this. I use the setup in my workspace with
redirection of the actual URL. I also ensure, that the loaded setup is
the same, which I have in my workspace.
Recently, I simply added/copied one of the P2 Director Tasks into my
Workspace specific Oomph Setup (from Oomph -> "Open Workspace"). If I
perform Oomph setup tasks then, it also performs the P2 Director Tasks
(all of them, not only the one I copied in the Workspace setup).
I still have no idea, why the Tasks are not available when performing
setup tasks.
Any idea, where I should have a look at?
Best wishes,
Joachim

Joachim,
It's hard to account for what you're seeing. The Installation.setup
always contains a reference to a product, even if it's the self product
because you haven't installed the IDE with Oomph, so there is pretty
much always a P2 task available and for a manual perform, the P2 task is
always enabled. So something is preventing these tasks from being
gathered. But I can't think what to suggest to look for to account for
this.
One thing you might try is to remove the streams from your
Workspace.setup and use Import Projects to add it back again. If that
doesn't work, there must be something wrong with the Installation.setup
or something bad in your User.setup. Can you install fresh IDEs with
the installer? If so, you can always overwrite your installation and
workspace (that won't affect the actual contents of the workspace but
will overwrite the Workspace.setup).
