HTTP ERROR: 500 [message #1711574] Sat, 17 October 2015 12:10 Go to next message
Eclipse UserFriend
I have been working with Eclipse Mars since download, I use the Help->Welcome->Workbench Basics a lot for the ins-and-outs as I am not as familiar with the IDE yet.

This morning, when I access the same, I got this error:

HTTP ERROR: 500
Problem accessing /help/advanced/nav.jsp. Reason:
org.apache.jasper.JasperException: PWC6033: Error in Javac compilation for JSP
Powered by Jetty://

I lost the navigation panel on the left.

QUESTION: How do I fix the HTTP ERROR 500 and get the navigation panel back?

QUESTION: What have I done, just so I don't do it again? Embarrassed

Background: Windows 7 Pro, J2SDK 1.7.0 for dev and runtime.

Have you tried just restarting Eclipse?

It's just a bad location of the IDE

Yes, I restarted Eclipse and got same error. I noticed whenever I work offline i.e. not connected to the internet, I get that error.

Whenever I am online, I do not get that error.

My best guess, eclipse looks for the java page online (perhaps to check for updates?) rather than in a help-library that I might or might not have downloaded.

For now, I'll just go online whenever I start Eclipse and go dark immediately afterwards.

Even with protection www = wild wild web and there are a lot of weird people out doing strange things.
