Eclipse vanished [message #1711100] Mon, 12 October 2015 23:19 Go to next message

Has anyone been using Eclipse successfully on a Macbook Pro, and had it seem to vanish? I ran the following in Terminal, saw where Eclipse might be located, but did not see it there.
Has anyone else been able to solve this problem without reinstalling? If I do so, Eclipse might disappear again, though, because I don't know why this happened. If Mac deletes it, does anyone know why or what to change? There are quite a few folders under Home but I do not see the Eclipse application anywhere. There is not anything that I can see named Sandis-MBP.

sandidooley$ echo $(/usr/libexec/java_home)
/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_60.jdk/Contents/Home
Sandis-MBP:~ sandidooley$

Thanks (a newbie)

Thanks, it is not there under Applications/eclipse/Eclipse.app, either. I am thinking Apple does not recognize it as theirs, and would be able to tell me if it is still there, or not, and how to fix the directory or path to it, if it is not really gone (a guess).

Are you talking about Eclipse or Java - they are 2 different things.

Just Eclipse, not java.

I also have Netbeans and am using that with java. Another class will be using Eclipse, so I will be using both on the same laptop (worked fine for awhile, which is why I am thinking maybe it is something else i.e. mac directory issue I cannot see, because I looked in the Eclipse folders, though I could have easily not looked in the right place). When I find out what it is, hopefully without just reinstalling (because it might happen again), I will post. Thanks for asking.
