Hi

I'm quite sad since a product that I use a lot is getting discontinued by IBM without any migration path or similar alternative product.

IBM Websphere Business Modeler is an advanced process modeler with very good documentation capabilities and statistical simulator. It finally got the Software withdrawal and discontinuance of service: IBM WebSphere selected products" letter.

I wonder if there can be a case for this kind of products to be donated by IBM to the Eclipse foundation so the community can continue to use them and develop them. I guess it happens a lot with several Eclipse based products.

I can help with documentation, tutorials, information about how to use the product. But I will really like to know if someone on the Eclipse community has contacts on IBM to try to get the source code of this product to the public once it gets discontinued.

Regards

Whether or not to move the product into open source is really IBM's call. We have very little influence in these matters.

Have you looked at the business process modeling projects already hosted by the Eclipse Foundation?

e.g.
