AJDT-install problem: requires plug-in org.eclipse.pde.core etc... [message #33154] Thu, 15 April 2004 03:49 Go to next message

Hello,

installing ajdt 1.1.4 via update manager in eclipse 2.1.2 gives following
remarks:

'''''Requested operation cannot be performed because it would invalidate
the current configuration. See details for more information.
Eclipse AspectJ Development Tools (1.1.4): Feature requires plug-in
"org.eclipse.pde.core".
Eclipse AspectJ Development Tools (1.1.4): Feature requires plug-in
"org.eclipse.pde.runtime".
Eclipse AspectJ Development Tools (1.1.4): Feature requires plug-in
"org.eclipse.pde".''''

I've also tried version 1.1.3, same problems
(this is the first time I've these installation problems: I've also got
jdt, cdt, omondo UML and pydev)

After reading the site of the pde plug-in I'm puzzled...
Isn't the Pde-plugin something you use if you want to make an eclipse
plug-in

This is not the case for me however, I simply want to start with learning
AOP?
Is there a way for installing ajdt without pde?
If not, hmmm perhaps a request, installing ajdt without the need for
installing pde would be nice :)

thx a lot for reading so far

Peter

Hi Peter,

Can you confirm you are using a complete version of Eclipse 2.1.2 - or are
you using a cut down version of it?

1.1.4 should install easily into 2.1.2 via the update site mechanism.

Andy.

Hello Andy,

Following your advice, I've found I had not installed eclipse 2.1.2 SDK,
instead (in a grey and distant paste) I had installed
eclipse platform 2.1.2 and other components seperately from an ftp
server...
probably some components were not installed as they should have been
(call me an amateur if you will, it's probably correct :) )

next week I'll install SDK to see if this solves my troubles (if not for
network problems, I would to it today)

thx a lot

Peter

Does a "complete version" mean that AJDT requires the SDK version of
Eclipse?
