still learning the CVS for eclipse [message #327447] Sun, 20 April 2008 16:56 Go to next message
Eclipse UserFriend
Hello,
I am still learning how to get files using WinCVS for Eclipse. I
managed to get the org.eclipse.releng.basebuilder and
orb.eclipse.releng.eclipsebuilder. However I need to get
.../plugins/org.eclipse.pde.build/scripts.

Here was my steps. I logged in to /cvsroot/eclipse. Next I used the co
command to get the eclipsebuilder and plugins.

FYI, I am reading the documentation here:
C:\dev\cvs2\CVSROOT\org.eclipse.releng.basebuilder\readme.ht ml
My job is to build a core CDT eclipse.exe by using WinCVS to check
out the sources.

Derek,
The org.eclipse.releng.basebuilder project contains a plugins directory that
holds all the plugins needed to run the builder (including
org.eclipse.pde.build). The basebuilder represents a set lineup of prebuilt
plugins that will run the build. It is better to use these versions to run the
build because they are known to work, using more recent versions are untested.

You should also look at the source builds (for example
http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/I2008041 5-1646/sourceBuilds.php)
