[Databinding] Relation to ReactiveX? [message #1709120] Thu, 24 September 2015 04:15

ReactiveX is a polyglot implementation of Reactive Programming that has been gaining a lot of traction recently and in some ways it is very similar to JFace Data Binding.

Do you have any comments on the similarities and differences of the two frameworks. What are the strengths of JFace Databinding compared to RxJava?

Seeing how ReactiveX is gaining wider popularity, what are your thoughts on converging the efforts and/or offering the interoperability between the two?

(PS -- it's been a while since I last developed for Eclipse RCP, and my last experiences with JFace Data binding are probably outdated, but my impression was that Databinding setup was generally much more verbose and clunky compared to similar ReactiveX code...)
