[CDO] CDOResource allowed characters [message #1708000] Fri, 11 September 2015 10:56 Go to next message

Hi,

I was searching for the definition of allowed characters for a CDOResource path. Characters like "?" are obviously not allowed. A colon ":" works in CDO 4.3 but not anymore in 4.4. Can anybody help me out?

Thanks!

I fear we don't do very good name validation and I don't remember a change that now leads to rejection of colon
characters (though we probably should have such a check). Note that for example the resource transfer framework could
not export resources with such bad names into the file system (at least not without name mangling).

Can you please explain what you've done to get to the point where you think that a colon "does not work anymore"?

Cheers
/Eike

Hello Eike,

colon does not work in any case for my repository. Neither by creating a resource via code, nor via the eclipse cdo editor. It seems to interpret colon as an identifier for a top level repository. I tried to create the resource "a:a" within the folder "/home/Administrator/folder/" of repository "testrep".

I get the following exception:
org.eclipse.swt.SWTException: Failed to execute runnable (org.eclipse.e4.core.di.InjectionException: org.eclipse.emf.cdo.util.InvalidURIException: Invalid URI "cdo://testrep/a": org.eclipse.emf.cdo.common.util.CDOException: No top level ResourceNode with the name a)
