Hi,

After the release is before the release.

We are now back in a 6-8 weeks release schedule so that you get access
to the latest and greatest features.

I've now scheduled our next release 2.1.0 for August 13th and I've put
together a first draft of plan [1].

I know that many of you want DnD-Detaching but I'm still looking for
someone to fund this development or contributes the implemnentation!

Of course we have a long backlog of requests/bugs [2] so if something is
of interest for you comment on the bug and think if you might be able to
contribute the fix eg having a minimal UI who leverages the revised
update service might make a cool contribution but so does other things
as well (eg Console who plugs into the logger, something like the Common
Navigator Framework from SWT/JFace or a help system similar to what
Eclipse RCP has).

Will this run on Luna or does it need Mars?
[edit] This was meant for you message about 2.0, but I guess the question is good for 2.1 also. Embarrassed

I'm not sure what exactly you are talking about?

The runtime-target we ship is based on Mars (I don't think we use any
new API so taking the runtime bits from Luna should in theory work as
well but there's really no good reason to use them).

The only Luna supporting version of e(fx)clipse runtime is 1.x where new
versions (eg 1.3 builds) are only available for customers who have a
support contract with BestSolution.at.

The tooling is only tested against Mars (as we are part of the release
train) but I don't think we use any new API from Mars so I guess you
should be able to run the tooling as well on Luna.

To summerize:
a) Unpaid support is only provided for the latest upstream projects
b) Unpaid support is only provided for the latest version of
e(fx)clipse tooling and runtime
c) Paid support with updates (including backports of no breaking APIs
from higher versions) is provided for customers with a support
contract with BestSolution.at

We've communicated since a long time that people who are building
commercial applications should think about getting in touch with
BestSolution.at to talk about a support contract so that they get
bugfixes and feature backports without the need to upgrade to latest
versions immediately!
