If you are using 3.0m8, then you should check this build out. It seems
much better than the last couple of integration builds, furthermore it's
a candidate for a "stable" build, which means the devs punted this one
around a bit more than usual, I guess...
http://download.eclipse.org/tools/ve/downloads/drops/S-M1RC1 -200404261021/index.html
It seems to feature new widget/bean placement UI for GridBagLayouts,
take a look and you'll see (placement no longer defaults to (-1, -1)).
At least, this was the most visible UI difference I saw (there are
probably many more I have missed). It also seems faster.
Hats off,
Idan

I followed your tip and now VE can produce the java class and close the
wizard window. But upon loading the Visual Java class it gives out an
error:
"
Error trying to set new file into editor.
Reason:
Plug-in org.eclipse.jem.beaninfo was unable to load class
org.eclipse.jem.internal.beaninfo.core.BeaninfoNature.
"
I am a newbie. Could this be something I am missing? Some kind of
configuration?
I installed by unziping the three projects (EMF, GEF and VE) to the
eclipse folder.
I searched through documentation but couldn't find anything else!
Thanks for the help.

This build is a Release Canidate for the Milestone 1 build (meaning it's
not the official M1 build yet). We'll be a bit more vocal when the
actual M1 is available.
Glad our users are so eager :)

I had something like this happen to me using the eclipse 0420 build - I
found that removing my ~/.eclipse directory (unix, not sure of
windows equivalent) fixed it

You are putting the latest VE over an existing one. We changed one
pre-req for a plugin and Eclipse had cached the old configuration and
didn't see that there was a new one. Go to the eclipse directory and
delete the configuration directory. That will cause a recache with the
current list of plugins.
