Hi there,

my situation is:
i'm having a test case a including some steps and cases and case b. i just want to reuse case a but my problem is that case b sould be parametrized with a data set and has to be run different times depending where i wanna use it.

maybe someone could help me, otherwise i have to copy case a each time i need it and change the data set of case b inner the copy of case a (thats the way i am doing right now)

Sincerely
Dominik

Hi Dominik,

have you tried to use Central Data Sets and to maybe use the getCentralTestDataSetValue function?
Regards

Hey Oliver,

i don't really understand how a central dataset would help here. Maybe u can explain how it could look like. i thought also this function will just return one value.

i just wanna use case a and it should look like:

case a
|----case x
|----case y
|----case b (n times with a dataset)
|----case z

n and the dataset differs each time i use case a

Hi Dominik,

So your question is how to have a reused Test Case being executed a different number of times with different data depending on when you use it?

I'll have to ask around whether there's a way of modelling this.

Best regards,
Alex

Hi Dominik,

I asked around, and I don't think that this can be done.*

For the cases you have, I think you'll have to model your test such that you reuse the individual test cases.

Best regards,
Alex

* in any reasonable way. There may be some way of managing it, but it's not known to me, and it would likely involve some 'interesting' workflows.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for your efforts. Maybe it would be an useful enhancement for a future version of Jubula to give a dataset of a single parameter to a case or make it possible to set the name of a central dataset as a parameter.

Thank you very much
Dominik
