I am running an older version of Eclipse (the one before luna).

I just received the most recent java update. After this update, the eclipse executable will not open. It does not throw any errors, simply does not open.

I tried:
1) restarting the computer
2) Re downloading java and removing old updates

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Could you start with what platform this is, and also make sure you still have read and execute permission for the entire eclipse directory, including the actual executable?

Also make sure you have read and followed the instructions that are in the post "Announcement: Eclipse won't start? READ THIS FIRST" at the top of this forum.
