I would like to create a state machine diagram for my SysML project. But for the SysML diagrams, there are only 3 diagrams: BDD, IBD and PAR. Is it OK that I use a UML STM instead? Are they the same? Thank you!

As you can read in the SysML specification (http://www.omg.org/spec/SysML/1.4/Beta/) SysML does not specialize in any sense the State Machine diagrams. The ones from UML are to be used.

Hi,

Papyrus doesn't provide any behavior diagram specific to SysML. I'm not sure if SysML behavior diagrams have any difference with UML ones (I think so), but they should at least be "close enough" to be used.

So, yes, you should use standard UML diagrams for specifying SysML Behaviors (StateMachines or Activities)

Regards,
Camille

The only behaviour diagram that SysML (1.3) modifies is actvity through some clarification of semantics, providing extenstions (stereotypes), and adding consistency rules with SysML-specific diagrams (e.g., between activities and BDD). And of course, adding a border and title box...

All other behaviour diagrams are reused as is from UML, including state machine.
