Plug-in import missing from File, Import... [message #1691034] Wed, 01 April 2015 14:19 Go to next message

I'm an Eclipse (and Java) newbie. I'm trying to follow the tutorial, "Create a Hello World SWT application" available on the Welcome, Tutorials, page. However, step 3, "Import the SWT project" says:

Open the Import wizard from the main menu via File > Import..., and select Plug-in Development > Plug-ins and Fragments. Click Next.

There is no Plug-in Development > Plug-ins and Fragments on the wizard. I'm running Eclipse Luna, 4.4.2.

Is the tutorial out of date? How do I import a plug-in?

Phil

Phil,

The Java package doesn't include PDE. You use use Help -> Installer New
Software, pointing to the release train update site (Luna in your case)
to add it to whatever installation your using.

You can use Filter Text field to speed up the process. Put "Plug" in it (no quotes); "PDE" will not work.
