How to undo outgoing changes in a bugzilla task? [message #32488] |

Hi,
it happened several times to me that I changed something in a bugzilla
task but then I decided I want to drop my changes instead of submitting
it. Sometimes I enter a comment into the wrong bug and I want to undo
the wrongly entered text. But again, the task is marked to have outgoing
changes.
Synchronize does not help to revert the task. I there another trick
to drop changes and to undo the "outgoing changes" state?
Another related problem: I enter an comment and then decide I want
to attach something instead of entering a comment, I get the
message "Commit edits or synchronize task before adding attachments".
Synchronize does not help and clearing the comment field does not
help either. I want to revert the task and undo my changes.....

Please add any comments regarding improvements for discarding outgoing
changes at this bug report:
196082: Make 'Clear outgoing' action more accessible

There is "Clear outgoing" action in the Mark sub menu that is
available from popup menu in Task List and Task Editor. Isn't that
obvious place? ;-)
Also, if you have outgoing changes and then will click on "Attach
File..." under Attachments section it will complain about outgoing
changes. However you can easily create a new attachment from popup menu
in Task Editor, or by dragging file into the Task Editor (from the
Package Explorer or similar views or from outside Eclipse). I've been
always puzzled why former option don't allow to create attachments.

Eugene

wow, that's the last place I would have expected it! It makes somehow sense,
but in my mind, "Mark" has nothing to do with discarding changes or reverting.
I was expecting that the "Revert" action in the File menu would do the job.
Or something next to "Synchronize"....

I created a bug report for this:
