File has been changed... [message #317983] Wed, 18 July 2007 01:56 Go to next message

Since I use Eclipse Europa, when I switch workspaces, I get "File has
been changed on the filesystem" prompts, which is annoying. Can I
disable this? I have Pref/General/Startup.../Refresh workspace...
switched on.

Have you tried to invoke Refresh (from the right-click context menu) on
all the projects in the workspace?

Hope this helps,
Eric

If you are modifying files that are in your workspace outside of
Eclipse, you are going to see this message. When I know I've done this,
I just refresh the project as Eric suggested. Even so, I think I'll
still receive a message if a change file is in an opened editor.

What are you doing that you are modifying files outside of Eclipse
regularly?

Thank you guys. I do the same when I sometimes change the files outside
of Eclipse.

My point here is that I only switched workspaces. (The reason is that I
use different colors when working in dark and in bright light outside).
Eclipse restarts and instead of refreshing the workspace first (as set
in Prefs), it complains about changed files opened in the editor. It
would be nice to disable this.

Yeah, it's a known issue in the editor; if the file is open when the workspace is restored, you get this message. There's an option to automatically restore, but not to automatically reload the changes, even if there's been no change.

I forget the enhancement request, but you can search for alex_blewitt on the bugs if you want to find which one I raised about it.

Alex.
