What's the "Ctrl Contrib (Bottom)" widget? [message #317463] Wed, 04 July 2007 04:13 Go to next message

Hi,

in Eclipse 3.3, CDT 4.0 I see a new widget in the bottom strip of Eclipse
containing "Ctrl Contrib (Bottom)" with a blue background color. The
associated tooltip is "Ctrl Contrib Tooltip".

What's this? It seems to be inactive, it has no context menu and doesn't
respond to a mouse click. I haven't in seen in the latest snapshots.

you must have the examples feature installed ... that's one of the
platform ui example plugins.

Go to Help>Software Updates>Manage Configuration, find the examples
feature, and disable it (and restart). It should go away.

Ah, thanks, you're right! I searched for *new* plugins and found "The
Eclipse Project Updates". I assumed there are already updates available
for v3.3 and installed these!

Isn't "The Eclipse Project Updates" a strange name since these are no
updates?

Add-ons are also called updates. and the examples and releng-tool count
as Eclipse Platform add ons.
