Eclipse flashes start up screen and crashes with no error screen. [message #1631336] Mon, 23 February 2015 13:37 Go to next message

I NEED HELP!! I can't seem to get Eclipse to run. I double click on the shortcut to open the application. Then, it asked me if I want to open it, I click run. When it does, it shows the start up screen for an eyes blink of time, and then disappears. The picture is below. It won't start up. I tried looking it up and no one seemed to have the answer. Please help. I am making an app for my mom and have been looking forward to it for a long time and this is very disappointing. Any help would be nice. Thanks.

For starters, what platform are you on? Which version of Eclipse is this? Is it 32 or 64-bit? Downloaded from what URL? Which version of Java are you using, and is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

Give us something to work with.

I am running Window 7 64-bit, 64-bit Eclipse Standard 4.4, downloaded it from eclipse.org, running 64-bit Java version 8u31. I think the Java file is corrupted, because I wanted to see what version I was running, so I clicked: ABOUT JAVA, and nothing happened. Do I need to re-install Java?
