dateTime unwanted Crosstab grouping [message #1631028] Mon, 23 February 2015 09:48 Go to next message

Hi all,

I have a crosstab that has, as it's column dimension, a date at the start of each month.

The raw data looks like this:
01/01/2013 01/02/2013 01/03/2013 etc...

It's formatted in the source Data Cube as the following:

Jan-13 Feb-13 Mar-13 etc...

There is one overlap though, as the dates roll over a year. So, the max and min dates are:

Dec-13 ....Dec-14

The crosstab is, however, deciding to group December together instead of regarding Dec-13 and Dec-14 as two separate values. I can't find in the cube or the crosstab where this grouping is happening.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Update -

I've added year to the grouping in the datacube, opted to show year and then "hidden it" buy making row Height 0px. This workaround partially works: Dec-13 / Dec-14 are now separated, but March is now showing in three separate columns. I've looked at the source data again. Three months show:

01-03-2014
01-04-2014
01-05-2014

Are all showing as 'Mar 2014'. It's not a UK formatting issue by the looks of things - otherwise it would consider all the grouping to be in January.

Incredibly frustrating!

Figured it out (there was a thread in the BIRT iHub forum over on their site regarding this)

It defauts to using grouping by dateTime when selecting a new dimension in the cube - this needed to be changed to 'Regular', then formatting needed to happen to clean up the value.
