Build to Manage

Overview

Today's IT infrastructure is more complex than ever. Even 'basic' applications involve multiple layers of middleware, databases, HTTP servers, etc. These environments tend to be very heterogeneous, consisting of technology from multiple vendors as well as open source. The Build to Manage (BtM) toolkits make it easy for developers to add manageability to distributed Java applications. Each Build to Manage toolkit focuses on a different facet of the manageability opportunity. Industry standards, e.g. JMX, ARM are leveraged in order to provide the highest degree of integration with enterprise management solutions.

• Applies standardized instrumentation to assist problem isolation and resolution
• Standards applied: Application Response Measurement (ARM), Java Management Extenstions (JMX), and Common Base Event (CBE)
• Integrates with the IBM Tivoli® Composite Application Manager family, IBM Tivoli Monitoring, IBM Tivoli Event Console, and the IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON® family

The Built to Manage toolkits are available as tech previews as a part of the Eclipse Test & Performance Tools Platform (TPTP) project. The Build to Manage Toolkit for Java is now part of the Main TPTP download.
