Hi all,

I'm trying to set up a target platform for Eclipse 4.3 in my Eclipse
4.2. However PDE complains when I try to enable it because 4.3 > 4.2.

I'm wondering whether this constraint actually makes sense. What
prevents Eclipse from loading some newer jars? Is it possible to get rid
of this constraint?

PDE has a policy where we support developing against at least two previous versions of Eclipse (in practice it is possible to go back even further). However, we do not support developing against future versions as there is no way to know what has changed in Equinox/OSGi.

The warning you see is only a warning, you can still have a 4.3 target platform in 4.2. What is keeping you from using 4.3?
