Hi,

At Novell we have developed a localisation CAT toolset for internal use.

Our ultimate goal is to port our work to an Eclipse framework and open
source it.

At the moment we are running a Windows only application (Workbench) for
the translation and engineering part. It is coded in C/C++.

We have worked (and are working) closely with Localisation vendors and
Translators/Reviewers as well as our own internal users to ensure that
the tools have the features they need.

We have been using the toolset in a production environment for the last
9 months. We currently support translation/leveraging of .java,
..properties, .po, .pot and XLIFF files; with support for .net resources
soon to be added.

Our workbench supports parsing, leveraging and updating, target file
generation, consistency checks, QA checks, spellchecking, pseudo
transaltion and autotranslation.

We are currently in the process of using the toolset for the
localisation of a Eclipse RCP:

We would be willing to donate code, design specs and expertise to
Project Babel.

Regards,

Daniel McGowan.
Project Manager, Localisation Tools Group.

Thanks for the interest! We'd love to have you on board.

The Babel creation review will be in two weeks on August 15th. I'll post
another message to this newsgroup with details. In the meantime, you're
welcome to add yourself to the CC list of the bugzilla entry for our
project creation:
