Lead BIRT Open Source Developer

This position is a growth opportunity for a motivated self-starter individual who can help accelerate the pursuit of our mission. Here is an opportunity to drive cross functional teams and help talented developers create truly relevant products for the Eclipse community which transitions to an enterprise market.
What You Will Do:
- Work in a great environment where you can share your ideas openly, have direct access to senior management, be creative and try new ideas.[/*]
- Engage with the Eclipse BIRT development community and drive project success[/*]
- Develop code and submit new functionality to the Eclipse BIRT code base[/*]
- Work closely and represent Actuate in Eclipse to ensure that BIRT is integral to the community[/*]
- Work in agile teams which combine Product Management, Development, UX, QA, and Doc[/*]
What You Should Bring:
- A passion for open source and Java, and a track record demonstrating such.[/*]
- The ability to manage small teams.[/*]
- Effective communication skills.[/*]
- Be prepared to dig in and make things happen.[/*]
Core skills include:
- Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent industry experience.[/*]
- 5+ years in Java application development[/*]
- Proficiency with Eclipse IDE tool chain, User Interface design, and implementation using SWT, JFACE or SWING[/*]
- Familiarity with Tomcat, Apache, and any of the MVC frameworks like Struts or Spring MVC[/*]
- Expertise with RDBMS, SQL[/*]
- Ability to communicate design rationale and build consensus[/*]
- Experience in an Agile/Scrum development model[/*]
- Proficient in developing UI applications using SWT and JFACE[/*]
The Best Foundation for Success will also include:
- Experience with Eclipse BIRT[/*]
- Knowledge of business intelligence concepts[/*]
- 5+ years of Professional Server/platform software product development experience[/*]
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field[/*]
