Hi
I've tried to drag and drop an email (or contact/vcard) from my mail application to a scout application. It seems that out of the box scout only accepts files, text or java transfer objects.
Is there an easy way to add additional transfer types as for example email?

Hi René,
you are right, Scout supports the following transfer types:

TYPE_IMAGE_TRANSFER
TYPE_FILE_TRANSFER
TYPE_JAVA_ELEMENT_TRANSFER
TYPE_TEXT_TRANSFER

I think there is no way to define another transfer type in your own application.

However do you really need to?
You can save the vcard as file to your desktop and than drop it into your application. With TYPE_FILE_TRANSFER you will be able to accept the drop request and perform some custom actions. Does this work for you?

Yes, with vcard your proposal is absolutely valid as this is a rare case.

But drag&drop of an email and add this email to a workflow in your scout application would be a good thing...there I do not see the workaround over a local file.

Hi René,

in our commercial product we have an implementation of drag&drop for outlook (emails and contacts). however, this component is not available for free and not under the epl licence. if such an approach is of interst to you, please let us know.
