Scala is a JVM language, meaning it's compiled to Java machine code and
interpreted by the Java Virtual Machine. Your experience so far with
C/C++ is totally unrelated to what you'll be doing in Scala, in
particular, Cygwin does not apply necessarily as it does for Eclipse CDT
work. What you've got for Java will accommodate Scala. However, you may
not get help in this forum for Scala using Eclipse. I would suggest
http://scala-ide.org/ and whatever community support they recommend
(there's a user mailing list).
