Rotated labels [message #1221677] Wed, 18 December 2013 03:03 Go to next message

Does Graphiti support the rotation of connection labels? It would save a lot of space and thereby improve the overall layout a lot if I could align them with the direction connection. The documentation says only Polylines can be rotated, but a Text also has an 'angle' attribute. I tried a bit but only get a couple of points instead of the entire text. If it's possible, is there an example somewhere?

Text can also be rotated, there's some special logic implemented for them. I
guess the problem here might be clipping: I haven't checked yet but maybe
the decorator clipping does not take a rotated text into account.

Why are decorators clipped at all? Shouldn't they be on a separate non-clipping layer?

Hm, I think this is because the text figure is reused from standard text
figures. Altogether, this sounds like a bug, and I thought we had something
on this. But all I found was a request that goes a step further: automate
the rotation depending on the angle of the connection at the location of the
decorator:
