Hi,all:
So far as I konw,for meeting the IBM strategy,IBM will migrate most of
the test tools to Rational Products such as Rational Performance Tester and
Rational product family will play a more important role in future.
Currently,Websphere Commerence System Verification test is based on
SilkPerformer together with Zeus Framework.For exploring the way to migrate
it to the RPT, we had done some research on RPT.We found two issues:1.if we
did any modification in the generated test code,the code will be rewrited or
covered when we run the testcase again,that is to say,we can't do anything
with the generated code.2.how we can split the generated code and modularize
the code.This is a convenient way for us tester to write the test code
manually without the help of UI.Issue 1 is very important in regression
test.
After realizing the issues in RPT,we did some research in RPT
architecture and found the relationship between RPT and Hyades(TPTP).We
found that it is possible to achieve the code modularization, because in
Hyades Framework,the pages or loops are treated as a HyadesTestSuite and the
resources(e.g. gif,primary request,css)are treated as a HyadesTestCase.So if
the normal actions of a session such as logon or addItem can be encapsulate
in a HyadesTestSuite includes some primary HyadesTestCases and the data
needed by the HyadesTestSuite object can be transfered by the constructor of
the class.
In TPTP developer's latest reply ,they confirm that in TPTP4.0,it
appears a new feature that the code generated will not be rewrited after you
do some modification, which seems a great encouragement to us.Our proposal
is showed above,which is to achieve the code writeable manually and to
achieve code modularization.We think TPTP can achieve these two function and
so as the RPT because it is developed based on Hyades. These two functions
will be helpful to us tester and will make great progress in WC automation
test.
What is your opinion about our proposal?How about the proposal's
feasibility?
