Dear all,

A new ATL use case is available: ODM implementation, Bridging UML and OWL.

This use case presents an implemenentation of the OMG Ontology Definition
Metamodel specification that aims to bridge the gap between UML and
ontology languages like OWL.

The use case is available at:
http://www.eclipse.org/m2m/atl/usecases/ODMImplementation/[/href]

Best regards,
Guillaume

Guillaume,

This ATL use case is very cool:
http://www.eclipse.org/m2m/atl/usecases/ODMImplementation/

It is a nice example of translation from UML to OWL.

The initial transformation specification was written in QVT in the OMG ODM
specification
and you seem to have been able to translate from QVT to ATL quite easily.

I copy this to the the EODM newsgroup who may perhaps be interested by this
too.

What are the next steps in your work?
Are you going to provide the reverse (partial) transformation
(from OWL to UML)?

Best regards,

Jean

Great News Guillaume!

In the TwoUse Project (TwoUse - Transforming and Weaving Ontologies and UML in
Software Engineering)[1] at Koblenz University, we are targeting combine
ontologies and UML models to compose ontology based software, and this
implementation will be very useful.

Cheers,

Hi Fernando,

Thank you for your comment.
I'm very interested by what you're doing on UML and ontologies. I'm doing
a Phd thesis on the same subject, trying to use the best of UML and OWL
and make that models and ontologies work together.

Feel free to send me remarks about the UML2OWL transformation and hope we
can stay in contact.

Best Regards

Guillaume
