Jubula future plans [message #1043924] Thu, 18 April 2013 05:20 Go to next message

Hi,

I have been using Jubula for more than a year now and it works in most cases. However there are always some cases which can't be tested with this type of tools due to that they require that the software to test includes UI components (widgets) for everything and that's not always the case. Jubula is one of the tools in the second generation tools. The first generation only used coordinates.

Now the third generation has started to appear in different tools. The third generation includes image recognition. For example: JAutomate and Sikuli.

Is this something which will be included in Jubula, or how does the future plans look like?

Regards Richard

We currently are looking into verification by images, i.e. to check if some image like a map is similar to what you expect it to be. Finding controls by image comparison is certainly interesting and doable for some toolkits, but not for others (HTML uses the DOM, SWT controls would look different on every platform, etc.). However, we will investigate this, too.

Are there any news about this topic?

Does the latest version of Jubula somehow use image recognition?

Hello Inga,

Thanks for your question. We have a patch from the person who worked on this but have not managed to review it yet due to other activities. I can't say for definite whether we will look at it soon.

Best regards,
Alex
