Virgo environment from inside the container [message #1017132] Sat, 09 March 2013 12:51 Go to next message

Folks,
we have Virgo containers on WINDOWS servers, and also Linux boxes, and even have more than one container on a given machine.

My question is this: I need to access one of the virgo directories (repository/usr) from a service running inside the container. I also may need to read what the OS is (or other environmental items). Is there an easy programmatic way to do that, or do I need to set up something in the startup scripts? How would be the best way to approach this?

Thanks!

You could infer Windows vs Linux by testing the File path separator, although it's a hack.

Another approach would be to set system properties via the startup script. Note that the startup script already sets some of these, which may be of use.
