linking lifeline to its corresponding class [message #1004120] Tue, 22 January 2013 11:05 Go to next message

HI everybody,

I have Package with UML Classes and Interactions descibing some scenarios of these classes.

How can I associate a lifeline in Sequence diagram to a class in the class diagram?

There is field "Represents" in the properties view of the lifeline but it lists the names of the association between the classes not the classes!

Thanks in advance..

Mohamed

Hi, Mohamed,

A Lifeline represents a ConnectableElement, usually a Property of some
classifier. This is why the editor gives you a list of properties to
choose from, not classes.

So, in the context classifier of your interaction, there should be a
property typed by the Class that you want your lifeline to represent.
As discussed recently in the Papyrus forum, a Collaboration is a
convenient classifier in which to model the interactions of your
classes by way of owned properties serving as "collaboration roles"
that your lifelines can represent. See the "Sequence Diagrams" thread
in that forum, started on 11 January.

HTH,

Christian
