SDK update looping [message #986454] Tue, 20 November 2012 09:00 Go to next message

Hi

I'm trying to update my Eclipse SDK from Helios to Indigo. However, the update process is stuck at 36% seemingly looping on "Fetching org.eclipse.ui.intro.universal_3.2.500.v20110510.jar.pack.gz"
It seems to repeatedly download this from a number of different URLs but never continuing. It's been doing this for hours!
I've tried stopping and restarting Eclipse but it still gets stuck at the same point each time.
I originally had problems as outlined here: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=317785 but the fix in eclipse.ini seems to have fixed that.
Now when I start Eclipse the splash screen shows "Indigo" but after starting, help->about shows:
Version: 3.6.2
Build id: M20110210-1200

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I've now managed to update to Indigo. In my Preferences->Install/Update-"Available Software Sites" I disabled http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/updates/3.6 and enabled http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/updates/3.7.

I had already followed a guide to upgrade to Indico which just said to add the http://download.eclipse.org/releases/indigo site which I had done. It did not mention changing the updates site.

The update then worked OK.

I had exactly the same problem, on exactly the same jar. Tried your fix of switching the update repo to 3.7, but that didn't work for me. But with the 3.7 repo still enabled, I switched from Java7 to Java6, and presto - upgrade completed.
