Advantages of BIRT4.2.0 over 3.7.0 [message #981091]

Hi,

We are using BIRT 3.7.0 for our reports, we want to upgrade to 4.2.0, but before that we would like to know what are the major advantages of latest version wrt performance.

If we have to upgrade to latest version, do we have to upgrade both Engine Code and also redesign reports to be compatible with the version used?

Could someone please answer these two questions and help us in making a decision.

Here's a link to the new and notable features of 4.2: http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/project/notable4.2.php

As far as versions of the designer and runtime, you'll most likely be able to use reports designed in 3.7, in the 4.2 runtime, but I'd test them, first. The runtime will have to be equal to or greater than the designer version, though. Let me know if you have more questions.
