Can't successfully launch profiler [message #137798] Fri, 31 October 2008 10:09 Go to next message
Eclipse UserFriend
I am trying to use tptp for some memory and cpu profiling on a standalone
app.

My config is JDK 1.5.9, Eclipse 3.4 and tptp 4.5.0.

When I first launch eclipse, if I start a profiling session, it loads to
51% (jvmti instrumenting) and hangs. The ACServer is started, the vm for
the app to be profiled is launched.

After cleaning that up, any other profiling attempts hang at 27%
(Launching Delegates).

Any suggestions or ideas as to what is going on?

Any other information I can provide?

Nothing ends up in log file.

Thank you,

- Clark.

Hi Clark,

Could you shut down Eclipse workbench, make sure there is no ACServer.exe
nor dangling java.exe running on your machine. Then restart Eclipse
workbench, go to Windows > Preferences > Integrated Agent Controller > Host,
and Test Connection on localhost to see if you have a successful connection
with the built-in Agent Controller (if the connection works okay, you should
also see an ACServer.exe started on your machine on demand).

Could you please check the workspace/.metadata/.log file for any error
message/stacktrace?

Eugene

Eugene, thank you for the follow up.

I believe my workspace had become corrupt, and after wiping it off the
disk and starting over fresh, the test tools are now working.
