Eclipse command line [message #913070] Fri, 14 September 2012 14:04 Go to next message

Hello everyone,

I have been using eclipse for around 4 years now, and I love using hotkeys. I feel it tremendously speeds up things. I am a fan of command line as well. I am not sure if there is a feature or plugin that does this already. But I was thinking it would be really cool to have an eclipse command line, as in a small command window that can be opened with just a press of a hot key and then type commands to do stuff that can be done using hot keys. Sometimes hot keys can be really hard to remember and confusing, whereas commands can be easy to remember. And with auto suggest with commands, it would be way more easier.

Two really cool advantages of having something like this are, 1) you can have arguments to commands (which you cannot have for hot keys) 2) Not needing to touch the mouse at all.

It would be a fantastic addition I think (At least for command line fans).

I would love to know people's views on it.

Thanks,
Dhaval Patel.

Have you tried Ctrl+3? not quite a command line, but it might be close
to what you're asking.
