Can BIRT template accept images from an XML datasource [message #890104]

I have a requirement to generate a PDF document with multiple dynamic images within it. I receive XML messages which has got the images embedded in it by a third party system. Can I use BIRT template to generate my PDF ?...Can BIRT template be configured in a way that will accept dynamic images from an XML datasource.

Gurus , please help
