Agent Controller is unavailable under port 10002 [message #116299] |

I'd like to understand my plug-in's memory usage. I attempt to start a
runtime workbench using the Profile->Eclipse Application toolbar item.
Although I have no problems with Run->Eclipse Application, I cannot
profile. I get a CoreException: "Agent Controller is unavailable under
port 10002. Make sure that the service is started and the port number
is correct under preferences." I'm using Windows XP.
I assume this error means I need to run RAServer.exe from a stand-alone
Agent Controller? The documentation suggests that Integrated Agent
Controller is an alternate, but I cannot figure out how to enable it (or
troubleshoot it, if it is already enabled.)
I have downloaded a controller from
http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/downloads/?ver=4.4.0.3 and followed the
instructions at
http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/downloads/installguide/Inst allGuide44.html#install_agent_controller
..
I have run .\bin\SetConfig
When I run RAServer, the error message is "Error starting transport
layers, Agent controller exiting. See servicelog.log for error report."
The log contains the messages "Unable to create named pipe" and "An
error was returned from TransportLayer(1001)::startTransportLayer errNum
= -1"
It would be nice if the Eclipse "Integrated Agent Controller" or "Agent
Controller" preferences page had a button to test for Agent Controller
connectivity, version, etc.
