E4 - Graphiti - without compatibility layer? [message #874754] Mon, 21 May 2012 09:40 Go to next message

Hello together,

currently I am migrating my 3.7 RCP to Eclipse 4.2 and so far 4.2 is i.m.o. much more comfortable. (DI, Event Service (Bus), CSS etc.)

However, I couldn't find any hint, snippet or information on how to open the Graphiti editor in an e4 way, where (input)parts instead of editors are used.

Is Graphiti not usable yet with the coming Juno release without the compatibility layer?

If it is possible to use it in a native e4 way, does someone has code snippets or some hints?

Best regards

Bjoern

I think this will depend on whether GEF will provide a native E4 part implementation... as of now, graphiti is backed by GEF which uses the 3.x editor API...

Mmmh, that makes me sad. Thanks for the quick answer!

That's perfectly true for now.

Nevertheless, there are plans for an upcoming GEF 4 version that's
completely reworked. Not sure if there are plans to move to E4 with that
version, but I would hope so...
