I am currently running Eclipse 3.7 (under Windows 7) and want to upgrade to 3.7.1. What's the best approach to do an upgrade and be able to retain my preferences. I have specific formatting features turned on for example (use spaces for tabs, etc), and I'd rather not go through duplicating all my many preferences.
What procedure should I use?

First, you can easily install a completely new version of Eclipse and
point it to your existing workspace, where all of your preferences are
stored. You won't lose them that way. However, doing that will mean you
have to re-install any third-party plugins that you might have installed
into your 3.7
You can also use File > Export and Import those preferences into another
workspace.
Finally, you can Help > Check For Updates to get the latest of
everything you have. I've found this to be a somewhat slow process,
though; I prefer to just download the latest package I want and point it
to my existing workspace(s).
