I feel very stupid, but I cannot find basic instructions for installing Eclipse on my Windows 7 x86-64 machine. I've done development on many platforms over the past 40 years but am new to the Windows platform. My goal here is to play with Android development. ("Play" is one of the main perks of retirement.)
I can't find things like:
1. Which version of Java do I need? 32-bit or 64-bit?
2. Where should I put Java?
3. Which version of Eclipse do I need? 32-bit or 64-bit?
4. Where should I put Eclipse?
I have found instructions on the wiki for setting up eclipse.ini and things like that, but these are not of much use until I can get the basic setup right.
