IWAT0225E Error [message #73600] Thu, 08 June 2006 23:11 Go to next message

I have installed the Agent Controller and have it running as a service on
windows.

I have JBoss running with my Java application deployed.

I am trying to attach a new Java Process to profile this application.

But as soon as I get to the configuration screen for this new process I
can see the following error:

[Agents]: IWAT0225E You must select at least one agent to attach to.

When I click the agent tab there are no agents available to select.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Thanks,

Luke

Hi Luke,
Are you running your Java application in profiling mode
(e.g. -XrunpiAgent ....)? If so, ensure the Agent Controller's bin
directory is on your system PATH (as opposed to setting the PATH environment
variable in the scope of a shell window).

Thanks!

I was missing the -XrunpiAgent in my JBoss start up script.

Now, can anyone direct me to documentation or tutorials on advanced usuage
of the profiler? I would like to get a snap shot of our application over
the time frame of a single request to determine the objects created in
memory.
