I am trying to use SWT.VIRTUAL with a gridtableviewer, but it doesn't work.
Apparently gridtableviewer does not support SWT.VIRTUAL.

Is there any workaround? Can this gridtableviewer issue be fixed otherwise?

No - there are experimental patches in bugzilla IIRC but nothing made
it's way into the cvs-repo yet and very likely won't make it in the next
time (unless a customer wants me to invest money into it)
