For Preview, Internal browser is not available - how to set [message #659108]

Hi,
I downloaded "birt-report-designer-all-in-one-linux-gtk-2_5_2.tar.gz" to my CentOS 4.3 and untarred to get the eclipse (Galileo) platform. As I had eclipse 3.1 version, just moved away that and started using this elipse for BIRT.

Currently learning to generate reports. After designing few reports, I could preview them using my mozilla firefox browser, and an error message "Internal browser is not available" is always shown in eclipse preview window. I didn;t give much importance to that. Now I'm facing a problem - when reports with user filtering is designed - clicking preview button displays the error

"Unhandled event loop exception
No more handles [Unknown Mozilla path (MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME not set)]"

I tried to resolve this issue - but to no solution. Still the "Internal browser is not available" error appears. I think if I could resolve this "Internal browser is not available" error, the above exception won't appear.

I am looking forward for possible solution to resolve the above issues. Please provide any help.

Anandan,

Can you try to start eclipse with the -clean option? Also look at the
window-preferences->Report Design->Preview options. There is a check
box to always use an external browser.

You may also want to search your workspace for a .log file that should
have a stack trace in it when you get the error.

Thank you. I could see the .log file in my workspace but it does not give any information more than that I mentioned -

at org.eclipse.swt.browser.Browser.<init>(Browser.java:119)

When I set MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME to export MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=/usr/lib/firefox-3.0.1/
it reported swt.jar was not available. I copied swt.jar to the above directory, then
eclipse started to crash.

Now instead of previewing, I do the following: Run -> View Report -> In Web Viewer

I get the Report parameter window properly to give the values and get the report rightly.

I reported this problem with eclipse; it happens with the ganymede and
galileo all-in-one builds for mac os x. It was fixed with the helios
all-in-one.
