In the helios version of eclipse only, if I create a new project and name the workspace and project the same, I get casting errors. No problems as long as the project and workspace are named differently. I have this error creating a GWT project or a Roo project on a windows vista pc. Any suggestions?

You can name the workspace in Preferences>General>Workspace, but I
suspect you don't mean that.

Do you mean you start with a workspace in /tmp/z.ex.ws and then from
eclipse you create a project z.ex.ws (which now lives in
/tmp/z.ex.ws/z.ex.ws (notices the 2 levels)?

Or when you create the project, do you try and change the default
location to point to /tmp/z.ex.ws

When I start eclipse, I specify the workspace as c:\gwttest.
I click on the GWT new web application project button to create a new project and name it with the same name, gwttest. It will create the project but I get the following errors and the project is unusable:
Errors occurred during the build.
Errors running builder 'Google Web Toolkit Project Validator' on project 'gwttest'.
org.eclipse.jdt.internal.core.JavaModel cannot be cast to org.eclipse.jdt.core.IJavaProject

I get this same result using spring sts 3.6 creating a roo project. If I make the name of the workspace different from the project name, all works fine.
Thanks

I apoligize, I misspoke when I said this only happens in helios. If I upgrade my current version of eclipse galileo to the Eclipse IDE 1.2.2.20100217-2310 I have the same problem. As long as I do not upgrade galileo I do not have this problem.
Thanks

This is probably related to other plugins you have included? are you
creating a java project, or a GWT project?

You might have to open a bug against the guys that provide "Google Web
Toolkit Project Validator" Include any logs with stack traces to the
GWT guys.

I ran a test with Helios SR1 and just a java project, and it works fine.
