Is there a way in script that I can access data in previous rows? In other tools that I've used, I could do some thing like item_nbr[-1] to determine the item_nbr in the previous row. But I don't see how to do this in BIRT.

Also, if this is possible, what event would it be on?

I am using BIRT 2.3.2. Also, I'm a new user so I apologize if this has already been answered in previous posts. I've searched and found nothing definitive.

Thanks much.

There are a couple of ways you can do this. One way would be to develop
your own aggregate extension as described in this example:
http://www.birt-exchange.org/org/devshare/designing-birt-rep orts/1103-aggregate-function-to-subtract-previous-row-value/
This approach is best used if you want to reuse the same method later
or to share with others. The other way to do this is with script. Just
store the value when the data element is created by using an oncreate
script and calling this.getValue. Take a look at this thread:
http://dev.eclipse.org/newslists/news.eclipse.birt/msg22011. html

If you want to store all values just create a js array in the onPrepare
of the table.
myjsarray = [] ;

Then in the onCreate of the row use this script:
var col1 = this.getRowData().getColumnValue(0);
var col2 = this.getRowData().getColumnValue(1);
var col3 = this.getRowData().getColumnValue(2);
var col4 = this.getRowData().getColumnValue(3);
var col5 = this.getRowData().getColumnValue(4);
myjsarray.push(new Array(col1, col2, col3, col4, col5));

This makes a double array that I can reference after the table like:
myjsarray[1][4];

If you use the js approaches make sure to use a text element instead of
a data element to present the value. This is because data elements
using bindings that can be calculated before your scripts run. The text
element circumvents this process when using a value-of tag. For example

//type set to html - not Auto
<VALUE-OF>myjsarray[3][1]</VALUE-OF>

See attached example of this last approach.

Jason
