reason for dependency of org.eclipse.birt.report.designer.ui.ide on org.eclipse.jdt.core [message #628182] Thu, 23 September 2010 06:33 Go to next message

Hello,

We are just about to build an RCP-based product, that includes BIRT reporting. The user should have the ability to design his/her own reports. So we included org.eclipse.birt.report.designer.ui.ide.

Unfortunately this entails a whole bunch of dependencies on JDT (compiler, ui, launching)
This is nasty, because it blows up the product by some several Megabytes. Confused

Is there a simple explanation for this dependency? I didn't see it immediately.

Thank you

Michael

Michael,

I believe this is because the BIRT designer supports debugging report
event handlers that are written in javascript or java.
