I have been attempting to use DocShare with Eclipse 3.4. My coworker and
I were able to get chat through xmpp working, and could share the editor,
but the changes were only viewable one way.

If he sent the share request, then I could see the changes he wrote, but
he couldn't see any change I made. The same thing in reverse, if I sent
the share request.

Has anybody else seen anything like this?

Could it be related to a work firewall etc?

It just feels like we got so close with being able to view the changes one
way. We would really like to be able to work collaboratively like this.

Hello Adam,

Yes, unfortunately we have seen something like this before, for example:

This thread: http://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/ecf-dev/msg01696.html

and associated bug (not ours it turns out)
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=237901

You might want to read the dialog on the bug, as it seems it might be a
configuration issue for some xmpp servers.

One more complete work around might be to complete the work on an
xmpp-over-http tunnel: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=247199

but realistically I'm not sure how immediately we can get to
this...perhaps with some community assistance.

Thanks for the reply. After reading through the bugs and trying to dig
into our jabber server (I don't know what it is exactly) I think it is
related. Specifically I know they are doing some weird things with the
host name and dns that sounds like it was the problem in the linked bug
report.

Unfortunately I don't have direct access to the server, but at least I
have an idea on what's happening if I can find someone who does.
