Are there any known tutorials on how to properly use the searchPages and
searchResultViewPages endpoints to extend the eclipse search functionality?

I have implemented the extensions and have had success getting my search
page into the Search dialog choices but my confusion lies in what exactly to
implement from the actionPerformed method to get the resultViewPage to
'fire' in the search results view.
