Regrettably, I think that Gunnar's blog is wrong. I wish it were the
case, and have already had conversations with some of the Jazz people
about making it the case, but currently I don't think it's accurate to
say that they are using ECF.
Jazz *is* apparently using XMPP/jabber client software to communicate
with a jabber server. They just don't seem to currently be using the
ECF API in between app-level code and the XMPP protocol.
I do think it would be a good idea for Jazz to do this (use ECF
abstractions), as it would build in greater protocol/service
interoperability from the beginning.
Please if you feel similarly communicate these desires to the Jazz team.
You can be assured that I/ECF team will do that as well. Just for the
record, we (ECF) team want very much to work with Jazz/IBM and think
that ECF and Jazz could provide a lot of mutual value.
I've also just posted a comment to Gunnar's blog entry to the effect of
the points above...just so everything is clear.
